It’s not (just) to seal your nose! It’s to prevent your neck from breaking! We learned this in lifeguarding (? or diving. I don’t remember). Tuck your chin to your chest and hold it there with your arms. Works for any jump from a very high hight into water! And cross your (straight) legs! So they don’t splay out and break!
